UTStarcom, Tzero show IPTV set-top boxes with wireless UWB support

UTStarcom last week teamed with Tzero Technologies to demonstrate a new generation of IPTV set-top boxes with integrated wireless ultra wideband (UWB) technology at ITU Telecom World in Hong Kong.

The new STB will enable service providers to distribute HD video streams wirelessly within a home and reduce installation and equipment costs.

Connecting consumer electronics throughout a home via Tzero’s ultra wideband technology will allow service providers to deliver a range of advanced services including IPTV, wirelessly, for less expense, said Brian Caskey, UTStarcom vice president of worldwide marketing.
