TV2 transmits Danish first with Sysmedia

Danish broadcaster TV2 has deployed SysMedia's WinCAPS subtitling system for the first live subtitling transmissions in the country.

WinCAPS was installed earlier this year and was initially used for coverage of the Danish Royal Wedding between His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Miss Mary Donaldson of Australia.

The WinCAPS system is installed in TV2's main facility in a room close to its playout operation in Odense. A live audio and video program feed was fed to subtitlers in Odense who then used WinCAPS to create the subtitles and transmit them to viewers via TV2's PLASMA teletext system - also provided by SysMedia.

TV2 uses the system for the subtitling of its main evening news bulletin.
