SignaSys upgrades KCSM control system

SignaSys has completed work with KCSM, San Mateo Community College District's PBS affiliated TV station. The engineering and consulting firm upgraded KCSM's master control system.

SignaSys was selected in early 2003 to meet the challenge of integrating ATSC/DTV encoding, multiplexing and PSIP, and monitoring into a comprehensively integrated master control upgrade that went live on August 1. KCSM has now begun extensive testing of their transmission system.

KCSM obtained SignaSys' best of breed project planning and engineering support, as well as access to proven technical and implementation methodologies, culminating in multichannel broadcasting, automated daypart changes, datacasting, and in-depth monitoring capabilities.

Project milestones included:

  • Develop and implement complex interfacing of multiple vendor products, including PFE router and automation system, with comprehensive documentation

  • Designed System Architecture and Project/Transition/Certification/SAT/Training Plans, with thorough understanding of System Environment

  • Produced build-to documentation designs

  • Procurement of system components, on-site installation & integration

  • On-site system certification, validation & activation, with comprehensive as-built documentation
