NEP Supershooters build mobile units using Grass Valley products

NEP Supershooters is building two multi-format trucks around Grass Valley cameras, switchers, and servers.

The trucks will be able to support multiple HD formats, including 720p, 1080i, and 24p, as well as standard-definition (SD) production.

The two NEP trucks, designed for professional sports and entertainment programming, combine 40 Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II Worldcam cameras, two HD Grass Valley Kalypso video production center switchers and multiple HD Grass Valley Profile XP Media Platform systems.

The Grass Valley LDK 6000 mk II Worldcam camera captures progressive HD images in multiple formats and frame rates. The Kalypso Video Production Center offers mix/effects capabilities with different levels of keying and compositing and an open, networked architecture for operational integration.

The first of NEP’s trucks, the SS20, will make its debut during the HD broadcast of one of Hollywood’s awards events this spring. It will then support HD broadcasts of National Football League, Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, and National Basketball Association games throughout 2003. The second truck will provide coverage of major entertainment events throughout 2003.
