Los Angeles-based Univision Communications Inc., which has radio holdings among its media ownings, confirmed it has put itself on the block. Univision says its board has decided to begin a process to explore strategic alternatives to enhance shareholder value; a sale, merger or recapitalization are among the options.
Univision Communications Inc. considers itself the largest Spanish-language media company in the country with TV, cable, radio holdings as well as Internet and music label divisions. Univision Radio has 69 radio stations in 16 U.S. markets and four in Puerto Rico.
UBS Investment Bank is advising the company.
