Henninger Emerges from Chapter 11

After spending nine months under chapter 11 court protection, Arlington, Va.-based Henninger Media Services has met the conditions of its reorganization on schedule. The company, one of the largest post production facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region, recently secured financing from Advisco Capital Corp. and established equipment financing.

HMS reorganized its workforce to include 100 employees in three facilities, including Washington and Richmond, Va., after closing several, built new Telecine suites and Discreet smoke and flame suites for design and editorial and added capacity for duplication and format conversion at Commonwealth Film Labs & Transfer in Richmond. The company also tried to increase its market share in non-traditional media outlets.

Rob Henninger, HMS founder and CEO, attributes its bankruptcy emergence from "cost-cutting ... as well as its push into business and corporate communications [and] government contracting." HMS clients include ABC, Discovery Communications, National Geographic Television, History Channel, PBS, HBO and Showtime.
