Harris Acquires Multi-Image Display Company

Harris Corp. is buying Zandar Technologies, an Irish-based privately held developer and provider of professional-grade multi-image display processors for the broadcast and professional video markets. The transaction amount was not disclosed.

Founded in 1993, Zandar has specialized in the concept of multi-image video display technology to provide a single integrated interface for multiple sources such as cameras, TV channels or video content. Zandar display system are used for virtual display walls for master control and situation rooms and broadcast trucks to provide centralized video and audio monitoring, alarms and corrective action. Customers include BBC, BSkyB, Alfacam, ESPN/STAR Sports in Singapore, ESPN in the U.S. as well as non-broadcast customers like the FBI.

Harris recently introduced its own multi-image display system, the Centrio broadcast multi-viewer monitoring system, at NAB2007

The multi-image display processor market has grown rapidly over the past decade, as increasing numbers of video and audio channels require more monitoring consolidation and a flexible, scalable system for the prevention, detection and correction of signal errors.”
