Avid Creates Pro Services Group

Avid is forming a Professional Services Group (PSG) to help its broadcast customers transition from analog, tape-based production to digital, non-linear news production. Avid said it formed the group, which consists of specific disciplines and offers services, including pre-sales support, consulting, installation and training, in response to industry acceptance of its nonlinear broadcast systems.

The PSG is a U.S.-based twelve-person team lead by Director Joe Vandenberg. Customers working with the PSG have a single project manager who handles all aspects of the installation, from pre-sale planning to post-installation support, and manages implementation and quality at the site.

A successful installation of an all-digital news production environment, stated David Schleifer, who heads up Avid's Broadcast division, requires an evaluation of a station's workflow process, technical know-how, training and a smooth migration to Avid's support team, which are all handled by the PSG.
