Mackie Updates d8b
A software upgrade provides an updated GUI for Mackie's Digital 8-Bus console. Version 5.0 includes surround monitoring control, updated dynamics algorithms, on-screen help, track sheets and channel notes that can be exported as HTML files. A Human User Interface layer lets the d8b work as an automated control surface with I/O for DAW platforms.

The console also now permits daisy chaining of four plug-ins for one send, which allows users to increase the number of plug-ins assigned to a given input. Version 5.0 is available as a download from www.mackie.com for $299; it is free to buyers who purchased an d8b after Nov. 15.
