The spectrum of editing systems on display at the 2017 NAB Show reflected the changing demands of today’s post production.
Monday’s MAXON press conference, which doubled as a luncheon at the Renaissance Hotel, was the first opportunity for NAB Show attendees to see Release 18 of MAXON’s Cinema 4D 3D animation, graphics, VFX and rendering software.
“The point of tonight’s press conference is to show that our Unreal Engine is fast enough to enable graphics that are not just real time, but fast enough to be involving, photoreal and immersive in both games and also for high-end entertainment,” said Marc Petit, general manager, Unreal Engine Enterprise at Epic Games.
“Stories are the glue that connects us all,” Avid Chairman and CEO Louis Hernandez Jr. told the assembled Avid Connect crowd in the Lafee conference room at the Wynn hotel.
For audiences, TV screens are a window on the world, but for attendees of NAB Show 2017, video monitors are a window on the latest display technology in our industry.
As usual, almost everything seen in the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center during NAB Show 2017 is grist for the editing mill, and the progenitors of post production are keeping pace with the advancing evolution of our digital content creation technology.
