AES releases preliminary calendar of events

As preparations for the 127th AES Convention enter the final planning phase, convention Chairwoman Agnieszka Roginska has announced that the preliminary calendar of events is now available online. The convention is set for Oct. 9-12 in New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Attendee registration and hotel information is also available at the organization’s Web site.

The preliminary calendar is a timetable listing of programs, presenters and panel members. Drop-down abstracts describe each paper, workshop and special event scheduled during the convention. “While there will be additional fine tuning and some last minute shifts in time, location and participants,” Roginska said, “visitors to the preliminary calendar may be confident that the bulk of this schedule is (almost) written in stone.”

“We are extremely impressed with the extraordinary program the committee has developed,” said AES executive director Roger Furness. “The thought, deliberation and time they have devoted to this entirely volunteer effort is staggering. Convening for a series of monthly meetings which began last October, they planned an extraordinary syllabus.” Event categories include broadcast, live sound, platinum, historical, master class, student and special events, encompassing workshops, panel discussions, technical papers, tutorials and technical tours. A special effort has been made to expand programming to include the audio aspects of game production.

“A glance at our exhibitors list will attest to the depth and breadth of our constituency,” said AES President Jim Anderson. “As always, our exhibition hall will be crowded with manufacturers showcasing their latest technology. AES Conventions are valued not only for the opportunity to see new gear, but as a forum for designers to exchange ideas.”
