Pro audio manufacturers continue licensing migration to CobraNet

QSC Audio, known for its line of power amplifiers and loudspeakers, has extended a licensing agreement with Cirrus Logic that will allow the manufacturer to begin producing products employing Ethernet-based CobraNet technology. CobraNet is a professional and commercial audio industry standard for delivering uncompressed digital audio via Ethernet networks.

QSC announced plans to use CobraNet in the next generation of its QSControl.net digital audio transport and control platform. The new products will be designed to provide high bandwidth, low latency and secure audio and video transport. The system aims to dramatically improve distribution and management of digital content for use in such applications as live music production.

Other recent licensees of CobraNet gigabit technology in the pro audio community include Gibson Guitar and Biamp Systems.
