Front Porch debuts DIVAnews

Front Porch Digital has developed a new SD/HD content storage management (CSM) system specifically for news operations, DIVAnews. It’s designed to work with third-party news production systems while enabling storage expansion and media archiving.

DIVAnews features include access from the news system to archived content stored as digital files. It also offers storage expansion using a combination of inexpensive IT-based spinning disk and archive storage technologies, in-path transcoding for seamless connectivity to editing and on-air platforms, and automatic migration of content from nearline storage to archives. The software and hardware has also been designed to interface the most popular data tape libraries from ADIC, Sony, Spectra Logic and Sun.

DIVAnews software includes archive manager, two data mover (Actor) licenses, interfaces to either Avid Interplay or Grass Valley’s Aurora platforms and an interface to a single data-tape library. Options include additional Actor licenses, DIVAdirector desktop proxy search, high-resolution transcoding, shared nearline disk storage, storage policy manager and DIVAprotect — the company’s system diagnostic tool.
