Calrec Apollo console offers more power

Calrec is now offering the Apollo digital audio console, with twice the processing power of the company's Alpha platform, an increased channel count and a new user-configurable control surface. It also includes automatic hot-swap redundancy in its DSP, control processor, router, power supplies and connections.

The Calrec Apollo console relies on Bluefin2, the next generation of Calrec’s high-density signal processing system, to provide resources at multiple sample rates: 48kHz, for up to 1020 channel processing paths, 128 program busses, 96 IFB/Track outputs, and 48 auxiliaries; and 96 kHz, for 510 channel processing paths, 64 program busses, 48 IFB/Track outputs, and 24 auxes.

New features include a second dynamics section in each channel, more than 70 minutes of assignable delay and three independent APFL systems for multiple operator use. Processing, power supplies and I/O routing are all contained in an 8RU chassis.

The Apollo control surface features OLED displays, touch screens and light-emitting knobs for instant feedback about function and status. In assign mode, the console mirrors the assign panels used on previous Calrec designs. In channel strip mode, the panels are configured to resemble an analog design.
