AKG to receive 2010 technical Grammy Award
Microphone manufacturer AKG will receive the 2010 Technical Grammy Award. The award, to be presented during this year’s Grammy Week in Los Angeles, recognizes AKG’s long history of contributions to the art and science of music recording and performance through innovation and excellence in product design.
This year’s only other Grammy Technical Award will be presented posthumously to Thomas Edison, inventor of the phonograph, early motion picture technologies and the incandescent light bulb.
AKG, founded by Dr. Rudolf Goerike and Ernst Pless in 1947, has manufactured both microphones and headphones since 1949 and has a long history on tour and in the studio. AKG is part of the Harman International group of professional audio brands. Harman’s JBL brand also earned a Technical Grammy in 2005, and it was the first and only loudspeaker manufacturer to be so honored.
