Cincinnati's Classical Public Radio, WGUC(FM), has begun multicasting its digital channel. It is using a Neural Audio's NeuStar Plus Digital Codec Pre-Conditioner. WGUC recently added a jazz HD2 channel.
The new WGUC channel features syndicated programming from JazzWorks. WGUC said it has been broadcasting using HD Radio technology since 2003 with help from a grant from the Cinergy Foundation.
NeuStar Plus and the Next Generation NeuStar 4.0 will debut at next week's NAB show. They were designed as a codec pre-conditioner to improve multicast transmission. NeuStar 4.0 can be networked and upgraded in the field. The NeuStar platform can perform as a stand-alone solution or in tandem with traditional audio processing to maximize the potential of any low-bit-rate audio path for HD Radio, Internet, ISDN/POTS, satellite, DAB and DRM, says Neural.
