US Senate Commerce Committee Approves Commercial Spectrum Enhancement Act
The Commercial Spectrum Enhancement Act streamlines the process where proceeds from spectrum auctions would be used to reimburse federal agencies that have to relocate from spectrum allocated to commercial use. The Act, approved by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation on June 26, would create a central spectrum relocation fund with the proceeds of spectrum auctions, and would grant authority to the relocated agencies to use the fund to pay their relocation costs. A copy of the Act is available from a link in the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee News Release.
