U.S. Open Golf Coverage Goes Mobile
Verizon and AT&T plan to offer live video coverage of the U.S. Open golf championship via their MediaFLO mobile phone video service.
In all, the telcos will carry 30 hours of NBC’s and ESPN’s mobile TV broadcasts of the tournament, which takes place at Torrey Pines in San Diego, June 12-15. Coverage will be offered through ESPN Mobile TV and NBC2Go, a dedicated mobile video channel offering NBCU programming for Qualcomm’s MediaFLO FLO TV service. Verizon brands FLO TV through its V CAST mobile video service and AT&T uses FLO TV for its recently launched Mobile TV service.
Since being launched in March 2007, MediaFLO USA has delivered close to 3,000 hours of live sports coverage. Content includes programming from CBS, Fox and NBC Universal as well as numerous cable channels and is available in 58 major metropolitan areas worldwide.
