U.K.: Sky+ HD to Grow Channels
In Great Britain, Sky+ HD said this week it plans to add at least half a dozen more HD channels to its line-up for Britain, based on its contention that 2008 is going to prove to be a "very big year for HD in the U.K." when all is said and done.

The HD additions coming in October, most of which are genre-based movie choices, will grow Sky+ HD's menu to 25 channels.

The new HD channels will include:
  • Sky Movies Action/Thriller HD
  • Sky Movies Sci-Fi/Horror HD
  • Sky Movies Modern Greats HD
  • Sky Movies Family HD
  • Sky Movies Comedy HD
  • Sky Real Lives HD
By the end of the year, Sky+ HD said in a statement, it plans to also include Sky Sports HD and Eurosport HD, as well as BBC HD.

Sky+ HD said it's now homing in on about 500,000 subscribers.
