TV, LPTV and TV Translator Numbers Increase
The FCC has released its quarterly report on the number of broadcast stations. Last week's Broadcast Station Totals show that as of Dec. 31, 2005 there were 1,036 UHF TV stations (two more than in the Sept. 2005 report) and 714 VHF TV stations (one less). The FCC listed a total of 592 Class A TV stations (one less UHF station), a total of 2,145 LPTV stations (28 more) and 4,537 TV translators (34 more).
