Sweden's Teracom has deployed Rhode & Schwarz transmitters in order to expand its DVB-T network.

Teracom has invested in 50 R&S NV8600 high-power transmitters. Installation is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2008.

The deal follows the Swedish Broadcasting Commission (SBC) decision to issue an additional eight national and nine regional television broadcast licenses. To have the corresponding infrastructure available, Teracom is now expanding its network capacity.

The new transmitters provided by R&S will operate in a 6+1 standby configuration at individual broadcast stations. The expanded broadcast network is scheduled to go into operation, before year-end 2008.

The R&S NV8600 series represents the newest generation of compact transmitters that require a minimum of space and can reduce energy costs by as much as 20 percent.
