Snell Helps WWE Broadcast Body Slams in HD
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is upgrading to HD with the help of Snell & Wilcox converters.
WWE purchased a Ukon universal converter and upgraded its Alchemist Platinum Ph.C standards converter to include HD outputs. The Ukon is designed to handle different frame rates, image sizes and aspect ratios and is capable of up-, down- and crossconversion. Other features include timecode conversion with frame mapping, audio handling and 3:2 cadence detection and repair.
"As a visually exciting spectator sport, professional wrestling is a perfect fit with the level of detail that HD provides," said Marty Ludwin, WWE senior director of engineering.
