If a picture is worth a thousand words, what's a large-screen, 1080p still image worth? Screen Dreams Publishing is hoping it's worth quite a lot and has begun producing some of its current still-image content (typically used as computer wallpaper and for DTV sets) as part of its first "HD Imagery" gallery for broadband-connected HD sets. The images are a nature collection of digital photos (1080p) called "Living Earth" and are being featured on the Aquos line of Internet-connected LCD panels from Sharp's Aquos Net.

Screen Dreams' premiere still image rollout was chosen to time with Earth Day on April 22. The firm said several other art and photo collections have started streaming to Sharp's LCD screens, featuring landscapes of mountains, deserts, forests and beaches around the world. Given its subject matter and HD-like detail, Screen Dreams suggests its collections also have an environmentally green quality to them, albeit subtle.

Sharp, for its part, said in a statement the inclusion of Screen Dreams' 1080p still imagery is a way "to complement" the design of its Aquos line of HD models.

Aquos Net enables Internet content to be fed directly to Sharp's HD sets via an Ethernet jack.
