Sanyo Unveils Slim 1080i HD Consumer Camcorder
Sanyo has added the next product in its Xacti line for consumers, the VPC-HD1010 camcorder, designed to be compact and lightweight (9.9 ounces with battery) in a 1080i unit.

The HD1010 sports a CMOS sensor that records both 1080i video and 4 megapixel still images to SDHC memory cards or internal 40-MB memory. (A pop-up flash sits on top on the camcorder’s pistol-grip design, while a 2.7-inch wide-screen LCD screen pivots outward from the side.)

Sanyo said the 1080i video is recorded at 60 fps in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format, and is capable of 300 fps slow-motion video. The HD1010 includes a fast f1.8 10x optical zoom all-glass lens. Sound is recorded at 48 kHz (16-bit on two channels). It will be available in the United States by July, Sanyo said.
