RFT Solves RF Exposure Problem at KTLN-DT
KTLN-DT, owned by Christian Communications Chicagoland, has a CP for 1,000 kW effective radiated power with an antenna height above ground of only 59 feet. The short tower is located in a county park. To achieve an ERP this high while minimizing RF power density on the ground required a special antenna.
RF Technologies LLC provided KTLN-DT with a stacked pair of SFNStar UHF transmitting antennas. These are half-wave spaced slot antennas that reduce radiation at high axial depression angles up to 30 dB, when compared with a similarly sized standard slot antenna. By using the SFNStar antennas, KTLN-DT will be able to operate at full power and meet all ground level RFR regulations.
