Radio Baltika Expands RFE/RL Russian Broadcasts
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty programs in Russian will be heard 18 hours a day on Radio Baltika, a local FM in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors described this as "unprecedented availability of U.S.-sponsored radio programming in Russia's second-largest media market." The agreement with Radio Baltika, it said, is part of an RFE/RL effort to expand audiences in Russia.
