Path 1 to Showcase Advances in Video over IP
Video over IP will take center stage at the
Path 1 Network Technologies booth at NAB2006, with the company demonstrating its Vx8000 multi-port IP video gateway with ClearPath Pro forward error correction (FEC) technology.
The company will also demonstrate its Cx1020 SDI over IP video gateway and its professional services tools designed to monitor, find and fix network anomalies that commonly occur and degrade video transmissions over public and private IP networks. The Cx1020 IP Video Gateway with ClearPath FEC can handle ASI and 270 Mbps SDI/SDTI video. An extension to the Pro-MPEG COP #3 standard, ClearPath Pro FEC is designed to transport high-quality, real-time video over the Internet.
"The COP #3 FEC standard addresses the performance needs of private IP networks. However, the public Internet presents an entirely different challenge in terms of high-quality video transport, but is one that Path 1 has been able to overcome," said Rick Segil, vice president of marketing at Path 1. "We've added our patented ClearPath Pro FEC techniques to the COP #3 standard in order to specifically address video over Internet issues, such as delay, jitter, packet loss, and out-of-order packets delivery. With these advancements, Path 1's customers can leverage affordable shared Public Internet bandwidth for delivering new services, such as IPTV and HDTV."
Both the Vx8000 and Cx1020 enable broadcasters to deliver real-time, broadcast-quality MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and VC-1 (MPEG-2 TS) video in SD and HD formats.
Path 1 will be in Booth C9535.
