Omneon Inc. has appointed John Ison as vice president of marketing. He will be responsible for worldwide management of all aspects of product, solution and technical marketing for the Omneon product line.

Ison joins Omneon having most recently served as vice president of product management for the video division at Avid Technology. He held that role for three years, setting out the strategy for the video division’s entire product offering. Prior to working with Avid, Ison spent more than six years at Brooktrout Technology, where he was general manager and vice president of product management. Ison has also held senior marketing positions with Autodesk, Live Picture, SGI and NeXT Computer.

“John is an industry veteran with valuable experience in marketing advanced technologies and solutions, and we are very happy to welcome him to Omneon,” said Geoff Stedman, senior vice president of products and markets. “With his keen market knowledge and strong product strategy skills, John will be a tremendous asset to our team.”

Ison is based at Omneon headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif. and reports to Stedman.
