NEP to Use Sony Switcher in Super Bowl HD Broadcast
NEP Supershooters is using the
Sony MVS-8000 production switcher in its SuperShooter 24 mobile unit to broadcast the Super Bowl in high def this weekend.
NEP will operate the switcher in 720p, the format Fox is using to broadcast the game in HD. For last year's pre- and post-game shows, the switchers supported the game in CBS' 1080i environment. Sony VTRs will also be used in the broadcast.
"The switcher's multi-format design and the ability to handle different frame rates makes it a very powerful live production tool," said Joe Abbenda, freelance technical director who has worked on ABC's "Monday Night Football."
