NBC Universal Television Stations has promoted Matthew Braatz, vice president of technology to senior vice president of technology and operations for the stations group.

In his new role, Braatz is responsible for overseeing and leading the engineering, operations, IT and technology efforts for NBC Universal’s owned and operated television stations. He also works with other groups within the organization to identify growth opportunities and synergies across the division.

“Matt is a great fit for this role,” said John Wallace, president of NBC Universal Television Stations. “He has tremendous knowledge of our core stations business, but also great understanding of how new technology can be used to further our local growth in today’s digital media environment.”

Braatz previously served as vice president of technology at NBC Universal Television Stations since 2005. Prior to that, Braatz spent three years as vice president of technology and engineering at WNBC, the NBC Universal flagship station in New York. He was promoted to that role after serving as WNBC’s director of broadcast operations, and before that, worked as the station’s news operations manager.

Prior to joining NBC, Braatz held several positions in Washington, D.C., and Houston with Belo Television Stations.
