NAB 2009: VCI Solutions Gives Up a Car

LAS VEGAS: VCI Solutions gave away an electric vehicle at the NAB Show in honor or Earth Day. Glen Calderon of Memphis, Tenn., walked away with the little green and blue car from ZENN Motors parked near the main entrance to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

VCI partnered with ZENN, the Zero Emission No Noise ca maker in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for the giveaway. The strategy gave VCI a visible presence during the show even though the company chose not to exhibit on the floor this year. The company instead held court in a nearby suite where it gave up the goods on Verity, it’s new software for traffic, billing and operations.

Springfield, Mass.-based VCI has long provided traffic-and-billing systems; Verity marks the expansion of those systems into operations with automation and real-time interaction from multiple sources. Verity is said to enable the free flow of information among sales, traffic, billing and operations via an automated workflow.

“All content has business rules, so now that the content is able to flow freely, the system is able to process the content according to the business rules established with the facility,” VCI’s description states.

VCI chief Sarah Foss said the car giveaway was a way to “showcase our out-of-the-box thinking” at the show.
