<br/>CBS 2 Breaks Ground for New Broadcast Center
CBS2 Chicago/WBBM-TV broke ground Nov. 15 on a new broadcast center. The station will locate its entire broadcast operation at the 2 West Washington location.

The 2,800 square foot broadcast center will be all digital and HD-ready. An 80-by-20-foot video wall will feature CBS news, special events, sports and entertainment, 24 hours each day. An electronic ticker wrapping the corner of the building will also be a 24/7 information source with stock prices, news headlines and weather alerts.

The broadcast center will have a second studio for production of long-form shows and special broadcasts. Additionally, CBS2 weather control will feature the station's own Doppler radar and the latest forecasting gear for street-side viewing.

Once known as Block 37, the refurbished area will open in two-and-half years, and in the process, create 2,700 new, permanent jobs, according to CBS2.
