Kuwait TV Purchases First HD Mobile Unit in Middle East
Megahertz Broadcast Systems has completed the integration of an HD OB (outside broadcast) vehicle for Kuwait Television (KTV), believed to be the first such mobile unit for a TV broadcaster based in the Middle East. The vehicle is 13.5 meters long and has one expandable side with an overall width of nearly 4 meters. The equipment list includes seven Sony HDC-950 HD cameras, 64 x 64 SD and 64 x 64 HD Sony Routers, a Sony MVS-8000A SD/HD vision mixer, and a Studer Vista 7 audio desk.

Although KTV is not broadcasting in HD yet, it decided to equip its new truck with HD equipment as part of a gradual overhaul of its technical infrastructure, since it foresees heavy HD programming of sports and major cultural events in future years. Megahertz, based in Witchford, England, worked closely on the HD project with Middle East partner EEMC. Both firms had also helped KTV refurbish its Master Control Center.
