Hitachi Placing Removable Drives in HD Sets
Hitachi says it will manufacture HD sets that will include internal, removable hard drives for recording and storage. The Japanese firm is hoping to turn its current TV sales back towards profitability in the current quarter, which ends March 31.

Starting April 20 in Japan, the company plans to equip some of its plasma and LCD products with internal hard drives that will hold 250 GB--to include removable 80 GB or 160 GB drives. However, the product will not be available globally for at least one year, and possibly two, according to Reuters.

And for the security-conscious, the hard drives will contain software that prevents duplication of copyrighted material, but will allow content to be relocated.
