Hispanic Info and Telecommunications Network Upgrades to HD With SeaChange
The Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN) has commissioned a new master control center built around
SeaChange storage and servers for standard- and high-definition playout and production, according to SeaChange.
SeaChange’s Broadcast MediaLibrary/MediaClient (BML/MCL) platform is now operating at HITN’s master control center, located in the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard. Already a SeaChange customer, HITN has repurposed its existing system for production applications as the new architecture begins to meet its HD play-to-air and production requirements.
“Given the history of reliability and performance that we enjoyed with our legacy SeaChange platform over the years, making the move to the BML/MCL architecture as we transitioned to HD was a natural decision,” said Javier Casilimas, HITN chief engineer. “The BML/MCL is compatible with our original system, which made the transition particularly seamless. In addition, we are able to continue using the other system in a production capacity.”
SeaChange’s BML/MCL architecture comprises distinct capabilities: Broadcast MediaLibrary servers, which provide fault-resilient storage of any type of Media file; and highly flexible SeaChange MediaClient codecs that easily fit with any device in a broadcast operation’s workflow and any video output, from SD and HD play-to-air to broadband streams.
The new system further enhances HITN’s mission of offering educational and empowering content to the Hispanic viewers in the United States.
