The number of high-speed lines serving residential, small business, larger business and other subscribers increased by 34% last year, to 37.9 million lines. That's according to a recent report from the FCC, noted by NAB's TechCheck Newsletter.
As of December, ADSL accounted for 36.5% of the lines and cable modem service accounted for 56% of the lines.
The report is on the status of high-speed services for Internet access. High-speed lines are connections that deliver services at speeds exceeding 200 kbps in at least one direction. Advanced services lines are connections that deliver at least 200 kbps in both directions.
