HDMI Spec Set
High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) founders Hitachi, Matsushita Electric (Panasonic), Royal Philips Electronics, Silicon Image, Sony, Thomson, and Toshiba have released the final 1.0 specification for HDMI—easing Hollywood’s jitters regarding HD content theft.

HDMI 1.0 is backward compatible with the DVI 1.0 specification. It enables both multichannel digital audio and uncompressed video transmission over a single cable and connector with a bandwidth of up to 5Gbps.

For content protection, HDMI with High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection technology solves the issue of protecting high-value content from unauthorized reproduction and distribution.
