At NAB2006, Harris Corp. will introduce the DL-860, a new legalizer designed for processing and correcting incoming video signals.

The DL-860 high definition and standard definition serial digital legalizer ensures that out-of-house video meets industry-defined "legal" parameters. It corrects such elements as out of bounds color space and other faults.

"With the decreasing costs of HD-capable products to the consumer and the ever-present need for SD in today's broadcast and post-production environments, we wanted to provide the best of both worlds, said Tim Thorsteinson, President of Harris Broadcast Communications Division's Leitch Business Unit. "The new DL-860 eliminates the added cost of buying two separate pieces of equipment, providing broadcasters and producers with an efficient and cost-effective solution for legalizing signals during the transition to HD."

The DL-860 accepts all popular SD and HD video formats and corrects both SD to HD and HD to SD conversions. All device limits are variable and allow custom user-defined settings for HD clipping, SD clipping, encoded gamut and RGB gamut limits. All operational parameters are supported via Ethernet, using the embedded Web server interface.
