Grass Valley Divestment Means More Thomson Brands


As part of its divestiture of Grass Valley, Technicolor is separating its transmission and headend divisions from Grass Valley. The two business units will now operate as standalone entities under the names Thomson Broadcast and Thomson Video Networks.

Thomson Broadcast provides advanced services, technologies and product families for terrestrial television, radio, and scientific transmission applications, including antennas, transmitters and Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) radio systems, including the Thomson GreenPower Series of energy-efficient transmitters.

Nicolas Dallery has been appointed to head Thomson Broadcast.

Thomson Video Networks provides innovative video compression and content processing solutions at the digital headend for network operators and broadcasters. Solutions include hybrid and multiformat compression systems for DTH, terrestrial and mobile TV, IPTV and Web TV networks based around the ViBE product family.

Christophe Delahousse will continue to head Thomson Video Networks.
