Gefen said this week its newly enhanced extension system (model HDMI CAT-5 MS Extreme), will provide an additional 100-foot span for uncompromised HD content delivery over two standard category-5 cables, compared to its previous system.

The new extender is designed to deliver HD resolutions of about 300 feet for 1080i and 150 feet for 1080p to a display monitor or projector via HDMI. Gefen said the new plug-and-play extender was engineered to withstand category-5 cable skew variations and extraneous equipment noise without signal loss.

The system operates via separately powered sender and receiver units, using a single connection of sender to source, and of receiver to display, linked by a single pair of Cat-5 cables.
