Gearhouse make huge XT[2] investment
International broadcast solutions company Gearhouse Broadcast has taken delivery of 10 EVS XT[2] servers. The investment comprised of six of high definition EVS XT[2] servers and four standard definitions EVS servers and comes in response to customer needs.

The investment underlines Gearhouse's commitment to high definition and takes its HD stock inventory to more than 60 percent.

Gearhouse Broadcast Managing Director Eamonn Dowdall commented: "The new HD XT[2] EVS's transform the possibilities of all our productions. With native Codecs of all the mainstream editing systems and two completely independent network protocols this increased flexibility leaves you hard pushed to stretch its bandwidth even in HD and of course the powerful and consistently reliable replay functionality which made the EVS famous remains. With XT[2]'s now having a GigE network, integration into FCP, Avid and external data storage devices is effortless."

The EVS machines are currently being be used by Gearhouse Broadcast on the Australian Open Tennis tournament in Melbourne. The equipment will also be used by both the Rental and Project Solutions divisions on the BBC's Rugby Union Six Nations Championship and Champions League coverage for ITV Sport later in the year.
