FCC: Let Auction Proceed, Then Investigate
In response to three allegations of improper or illegal bidding in the ongoing auction of FM licenses, the FCC has released letters in response saying that it takes allegations of wrongdoing seriously.
Yet, at the same time, the commission has told attorneys filing for three clients that it realizes any action it could take during the auction could potentially "harm the integrity of the auction process."
That said, the commission told them it would be prudent to address any concerns after the winning bidders have submitted their long-form station applications, when there's more of an opportunity to investigate allegations of impropriety.
