Erstwhile Thief Captures Self Stealing a TV Camera
ThiefSACRAMENTO: A man attempting to steal a video camera unwittingly targeted one in an unmarked ENG vehicle and inadvertently turned it on during his crime. KCRA-TV, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in California’s capital, reported that one of its unmarked white SUVs was broken into outside of a Best Buy in the city’s Natomas neighborhood.

“A camera inside the vehicle recorded what happened,” the station’s Web site said. Local police Sgt. Norm Leong watched the video, which clearly showed the would-be culprit trying to lift the camcorder, an HD model.

KCRA has the video of the attempted theft posted on its Web site. Police are investigating.
