DirecTV Places $6.7M in Orders With Radyne
Radyne Corp. has received repeat orders for more than $6.7 million for Ka-band power amplifiers and DM-240 satellite modulators. The products will be installed at new facilities that will support DirecTV's expansion of its HDTV offering to customers.

The company, which makes satellite and microwave communications equipment, said the orders are shipping during the first three quarters of 2007.

Radyne's DM-240 satellite modulator was one of the first to market featuring DVB-S2 technology, which, according to the company, saves up to 30 percent of transponder bandwidth when compared with the standard it replaces. Ka-band amplifiers represent an emerging market where customers get greater bandwidth than available in competing technologies.
