Dielectric Communications says it has made improvements to its interleaved arrays for FM radio, providing isolation without the use and added cost of a circulator.

The company’s interleaved solutions now yield a minimum –40 dB isolation for single-frequency antennas, and a minimum –30 dB isolation in dual-frequency applications, regardless of the antenna bay styles, it said.

“By providing sufficient isolation for both digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital applications, our new antennas will allow broadcasters to increase their digital transmitter power without affecting their analog transmission. It’s a clear upgrade path for broadcasters looking to transition to digital,” said Dielectric Vice President and General Manager Garrett VanAtta.

“Not only that, these antennas provide a ‘green’ solution by dramatically increasing power efficiency compared to the 10 dB couplers many broadcasters were using,” he added.

Dielectric says its new interleaved arrays, including a DCRC6 interleaved array with an HDRH4 antenna that provides –41 dB of isolation, will soon be in use at customer sites.
