Detroit Public Television has selected Rhozet Carbon Coder video transcoding technology to automatically convert its edited and ingested video files for on-air play-out.

Rhozet Carbon Coder is a universal transcoding application that facilitates the transfer of media between acquisition, editing, play-out, archive, Web, mobile and more. Carbon Coder can run as a standalone application or as part of a multinode, fully automated rendering farm. The production staff also plans to use Carbon Coder for Web streaming, VOD and PAL/NTSC conversion.

"We were looking for a fast and cost-effective solution to automatic transcoding between post production and our on-air server," said Helge Blucher, vice president of Engineering and Technology at Detroit Public Television. "Carbon Coder has performed extremely well and we are now using it for other media transcoding applications as well."

San Jose, Calif.-based Rhozet Corp. offers both off-the-shelf and customized software configurations for the production and content delivery markets.
