"The day has come when we need to say, 'We will preach the gospel of Jesus Christ whether some government makes it illegal to do so or not,'" said Dr. Frank Wright, president and chief executive officer of the National Religious Broadcasters during a press conference last weekend, the Christian Post reported.

The briefing was held during the NRB convention. The association is concerned that the new administration may bring more government restrictions on religious broadcasters. Hence, Wright announced the NRB's decision to adopt a Declaration of Unity in the Gospel to re-affirm what the NRB is and what it stands for.

Its declaration urges Christian communicators "to do all they can to reach out to the world with their message of redemption, to affirm the faith and …not be swayed from that course by secondary issues," according to the NRB Daily News.

Though President Obama has said he doesn't favor a return of the Fairness Doctrine, which mandated "balance" on issues discussed on-air, Christian broadcasters have expressed doubt and also worry that the Democratically controlled FCC will tighten up on station ownership regulations, either further limiting how many outlets a group can own or re-instating 24-hour staffing and the location of main studios within a city of license.
