Crispin Implements BXF Interface at WGCU
Crispin Corp., a Durham, N.C.-based provider of broadcast automation software, equipment, services and support, has implemented a Broadcast Exchange Format interface between traffic and automation--based on the emerging SPMTE BXF protocol standard--at
WGCU, a PBS affiliate in Fort Myers, Fla., co-located with Florida Gulf Coast University.
The system provides an automated exchange of the traffic program schedule from ProTrack to Crispin automation. RapidPlayX, Crispin's highly scalable on-air playback application, can automatically load the program schedule for fully automated, on-air presentation. The new dynamic exchange eliminates the need for manual steps in the file and material transfer process.
"The new dynamic solution allows our traffic manager to generate the traffic log automatically for the entire week, with a few clicks of the mouse," said Joe Maggio, director of engineering for WGCU. "This streamlines the operation dramatically."
