Community Broadcast Group Meets, Notes 30th Year
While commercial broadcasters get ready to gather in Las Vegas, community radio stations are meeting this week in Baltimore.
The annual conference of the National Federation of Community Broadcasters is April 13-16. It is the group's 30th year.
Organizers said topics will include the state of community radio in the current media environment; media consolidation; regulatory issues; funding challenges; expanded channels; and LPFM. The new Center for Native American Public Radio will hold its first meeting. The group also gives its Golden Reel Awards and hosts a national training project for young people.
Two stations, WESM(FM), Princess Anne, Md. and WRYR(LP), Sherwood, Md., host the conference, to be held at the Wyndham Inner Harbor.
