CES: Hitachi Taps VividLogic FireBus for HDTV
Hitachi has selected the VividLogic FireBus software for its HDTV products.

VividLogic--based in Freemont, Calif.--builds its software applications on IEEE 1394, aka FireWire or iLink, for high-speed digital connections.

FireBus is a cross-platform software application deployed in more than one million HDTV sets around the globe, according to VividLogic CEO Shiva Patibanda. Additionally, FireBus connects and transfers digital content to several network devices while also using 5C content protection to ensure copyrighted material is secure.

Hitachi senior manager, Kenji Katsumata said "we will be able to quickly integrate a mature software stack with a proven track record and open APIs into our HDTV platform."
